Contractor Licensing in Vermont

ElectricalVermont requires Electrical Contractor License through the Division of Fire Safety. Must pass state exam, provide proof of 4 years experience or apprenticeship completion, maintain $50,000 bond, and renew every 2 years with continuing education requirements.
General ContractingVermont requires Residential Contractor Registration for projects over $10,000. Must pass business and law exam, provide proof of insurance, post $20,000 bond. Commercial work requires additional certifications. Registration renewed annually through Secretary of State.
HandymanVermont does not require a general handyman license. However, work requiring electrical, plumbing, or HVAC permits requires appropriate trade licenses.
